Studio SHIBARI presents traditional Japanese bondage (2/2)

Please read  interview .

It describes my bondage style and what it means.

Seiichi Kita Exhibition – 1

BFCC Cultural Space features Seiichi Kita bondage teacher, who practices the art of kinbaku, a sensual and therapeutic technique of mooring with rope. The bondage teacher is a sex advisor who "teaches men how to treat women", "providing joy and peace of mind to people who suffer from poor sexual habits". Seiichi Kita reviews the culture and values related to BDSM (servitude, domination, submission and sadomasochism) in Japan.

BFCC has researched and found that kinbaku is an ancient art. Shibari, a comprehensive term for mooring with rope, has played a number of roles throughout Japan's history, in spiritual offerings of Shinto, sumo practices and traditional kimonos. In the Edo period, it was feudal, the samurai immobilized prisoners of war by shibari.

At the beginning of the 20th century, kabuki theater incorporated mooring with rope into performances, presenting the first manifestations ofkinbaku .

The art of mooring has always been represented by prints and illustrations, as in shunga art, of Japanese erotic prints.

After the Second World War, kinbaku photographs emerged, which made this practice very popular in the West, generating criticism from Master K, one of the most respected teachers of mooring technique.

Mestre K emphasizes the need of the moorer to assume responsibility for his partner. Kinbaku is, above all, a matter of communication, empathy and deep understanding.

BFCC Cultural Space got in touch with Seiichi Kita to talk and understand more about this work.

We decided to format the Seiichi Kita Exhibition as a series with 4 stages. In this first publication, preliminary information and some photographic works. In the following, the dialogues maintained with Seiichi by Messenger and photos on the issues addressed.

BFCC Cultural Space thanks Seiichi Kita for her attention and patience.

Seiichi Kita Exhibition – 2

ECBFCC: Hi Seiichi. My name is Andréa Müller. I live in Brazil I saw your work on Facebook. It is strong and wonderful. I don't read or speak Japanese, but I can guess a few things. Pain, love, submission, violence, sex, pleasure, tradition, organization, system and criticism. I would like to publish it on my page, BFCC Cultural Space. We publish good subjects about art in our virtual space. Would you agree? I would also like to know more about your work.

ECBFCC: The link you sent me is from a pornographic website. Do you use pornography to talk about Japanese tradition? What is the relationship between sex and the colored strings? What is the limit that you establish between art and pornography?

SK: Unfortunately, bondage can only be loaded on pornographic sites. It's not my intention. Pornography ignores the opinions of women created by man's society. Eros is a sensuality with which women also sympathize. The bondage of traditional Japanese culture makes women happy, not pornography. I give a woman a lot of orgasm just by tying her up.

ECBFCC: What is the role of a bondage teacher in Japan's social organization? What are the tasks that a bondage teacher performs?

SK: A bondage teacher teaches men how to treat women. Points and situations that make women happy. The difference between female torture and hate. The ecstasy that women really want. It gives joy and peace of mind to people who suffer from abnormal sexual habits. Solves male and female sexual concerns. The bondage teacher is a sex counselor. Note: Seiichi Kita also sponsors bondage events, inviting famous masters. Bondage events are popular and aim to make people feel a woman's breath when tied, the high-pitched sound of the pillars that support it and the sound of the rope that slides over her skin.

Seiichi Kita Exhibition – 3

ECBFCC: You state: "The bondage of traditional Japanese culture makes women happy, not pornography". Please tell me what kind of happiness is provided by the "bondage" of women in Japanese culture?

SK: Suppressing a woman's selflessness reassures her. If you tighten it with a rope, it will feel like it is hugging or inside your mother's body. As the hemp rope crawls over your body, you can enjoy the pleasure you cannot experience with sex.

ECBFCC: Submission and dominance in the contemporary world go beyond gender issues. We live in a corporate world that controls and devastates, putting us in a state of slavery all the time. Do you believe that lust can be liberating? Why?

SK: Temporary bondage is an instant yoga. We cannot expect a permanent release. Permanent release may be possible if servitude continues for a long time. Bondage is very similar to Zazen meditation.

ECBFCC: The different colors used in the strings (green, brown, red, gold) seem to me to reveal a cycle of nature or status, a time that is perpetuated and does not change. What can you tell me about this? What social codes do these colored strings access?

SK: About 300 years ago, the rope was dyed with the color of the flowers of the season. Now, I'm changing the color according to the color of the model's clothes and the color of my skin.

Seiichi Kita Exhibition – 4

ECBFCC: Puritanism and pornography have caused Eastern and Western cultures to fail on sexual and love issues. In your opinion, is it possible to reinvent sex with pleasure and love?

SK: Puritanism and pornography are evils from Western culture. The evils of Western culture have made love and sex extreme. An accurate understanding of traditional Japanese bondage can rediscover true love and sex.

ECBFCC: Who are the women you photograph? Actresses, models, ordinary people? Or prostitutes?

SK: The photos I appear in were taken by fans. The models photos were taken by me.

Note: We later found out that women are models, who offer to pose. SK selects them.

ECBFCC: Tell me about the texts that accompany the photos on your website. What inspire them?

SK: The texts attached to the photos report why the models are interested in captivity, what sex and what orgasm they feel.

We close the Seiichi Kita Exhibition here.

BFCC Cultural Space thanks you for your attention.
