Studio SHIBARI presents traditional Japanese bondage, known as shibari, to the world from Kanda, Tokyo.



About 400 years ago, Tokyo used to be called Edo and had its center in Nipon-bashi and Kanda. Kanda was the center of Edo culture, and the Edo Sochinju is located there, which is the central place to pray for local gods and protect the city Edo. It other words, the Kanada region embodies the cultural roots of Tokyo.

About Japanese Rope-Master Seiichi Kita:



Kita previously worked as a fashion designer and feels that traditional Japanese bondage is an unlimited form of “haute couture”, which means the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. In his art, he focuses on fitting the physique and spirit of the recipient through the medium of traditional Japanese bondage. Therefore, his work and instruction in Shibari-Do, also known as Kinbaku, do represen the traditional Japanese spirit.

Optional Japanese costume rental: additional ¥5,000

         

Photos are included in the price.

Kita himself takes more than 50 photos per session for his customers. The photo file will be sent via email after the event.

Instruction in Traditional Japanese Bondage: ¥40,000 for 2 hours

*Authentic Japanese hemp rope: from ¥5,000 up to ¥10,000

*Arrangement for a bondage recipient: ¥5,000 for a solo participant

About the Performance

Seiichi Kita’s traditional Japanese bondage performance is held every Saturday from 6pm to 8pm.
